Have You Written Down What Matters Most?

What is Legacy to you?

Last Thursday, I attended my uncle's funeral.

As with every celebration of life service, I found myself reflecting—not only on the life that was lived, but on the conversations that naturally happen when we gather to remember someone.

One thought always comes to mind:

What a blessing it is to live a life well.

Not a perfect life.

Not a famous life.

But a life marked by faith, love, service, and the hope we have through Jesus Christ. For those of us who believe, there is incredible peace in knowing that this life is not the end. Our greatest hope is found in Christ and the promise of eternity with Him.

Another thought...

Legacy isn't just about what happens after we're gone.

It's about how intentionally we live today.

Over the last year, I've become much more intentional about creating memories with the people I love—but I've also realized something....

Many of us capture moments.

Few preserve their stories.

Reflection

Take a few quiet moments this week and reflect and journal these questions:

What testimony of God's faithfulness have I never written down?

What life lesson would I never want my family to miss?

If someone found my journals years from now, what would they learn about my faith?

What important documents, memories, or stories have I been meaning to organize or preserve?

Write whatever comes to mind.

Don't worry about perfection—just begin.

Scripture

"One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts." — Psalm 145:4 (ESV)

 

Every testimony you share and every story you preserve becomes another opportunity to declare God's faithfulness to the next generation.

Final Thoughts

One day, someone will tell your story.

My prayer is that they won't have to guess what mattered most to you.

May they know the faith you lived by.

May they remember the prayers you prayed.

May they learn from the lessons God taught you.

And may they see, through your life, the goodness and faithfulness of God.

Don't wait for "someday" to preserve what matters today.

Your story matters.

Your testimony matters.

Your legacy matters.
